Cold, Wet, but Prepared To Compete

Cold, Wet, but Prepared To Compete

Seems like each year, our first track meet is cold and wet.  Looking at the weekend forecast a few days earlier, we started pumping up our athletes so they can make it through the 'less than ideal' conditions.  Did it work?  YES SIR!

You can see by viewing some of the pictures in the gallery that it was cold and raining the entire time.  They would get called to check-in and have nothing on but their running uniform.  All the athletes would walk out shivering from head-to-toe.  But by the time they hit the track, the adrenaline started to flow.  Everyone ran 'through' the finish line giving 110% as expected despite the conditions.  Effort was not limited to the runners.  The throwers performed equally as well with 1st place wins and several top three finishes.

Not only was it cold and raining (pretty hard at times), it was well after 8pm and the meet was still going.  Special shout-out to our parents (especially our first time parents) for their dedication through the bad weather and the extra long day at the track.

We knew it was not going to be pretty with sunshine and good temperatures.  We just wanted 110% from everyone and we got it!  We did not go in expecting to break records either, but good things happen to those that are prepared.  Congrats to the midget boys 4x100 relay broke the meet record!

We are looking forward to another awesome season as we are just getting started.
